When buying a home or a business location, most people do not pay very much attention to the shape of the roof. As long as it keeps the wind and rain out, they are typically happy with it. However, there are different roof types and they each serve a different purpose.
For someone who is building a brand new home, they may be tempted to choose the one that they best like the look of. There are two primary types of roofing that are found on most homes or commercial properties and they are known as Gable and Hipped. In a Hipped roof, the roof connects evenly to the wall, creating a flatter look than the Gable.
One type of roof is not necessarily better than the other, but they do have different benefits. All of the roof types available serve different purposes and it is important to choose the one that is appropriate for the location.
