How Bathroom Accessories Help Change Your Bathroom
Minimalists like to use basic designs and colors for their bathrooms. A lot of contemporary bathroom designs have minimalistic decors. A solid colored shower curtain and solid colored accessories, like the trash can, the soap dish, etc, all add to the simplicity of the room. A chrome shower caddy and chrome wall mounted or over the toilet shelves enhance the effect. A touch of flair in the bathroom is OK, too. Modern doesn’t have to mean plain.
Bright colors and fancy designs can make a bathroom seem fun. If you have children, you can have accessories like a dish, soap dispenser and toothbrush holder with the child’s favorite cartoon character on it. Or you could have pictures of cars, ladybugs or whatever your child really likes on the bathroom accessories.
If you don’t want to go overboard because you have older children who will also share the bathroom, come up with a theme that tastefully incorporates things that appeal to all of your children. Keep things like the shower curtain and bath mats neutral. Each child could, perhaps, have personalized bath towels. If one child likes Batman, then he can have a Batman towel and washcloth set and a Batman toothbrush. If an older child likes the beach, then get her a bath towel with a beach image on it and maybe have a small dish of seashell shaped soaps sitting on the sink.
Animal prints and earth toned towels, washcloths and bath mats can give your bathroom a safari theme. This effect can be further extended to the cabinets in your bathroom. A pale colored wood could add to the whole feeling of being on the African veldt surrounded by tall, dried grass and zebras and elephants and cheetahs.
Your shower curtain could have pictures of lions and zebras, etc or it could be plain and unobtrusive. You don’t want to have so many different animal prints and images that they overwhelm you.
The ideas for changing the look and feel of your bathroom are infinite. You don’t have to spend a lot of money or completely remodel your bathroom to give it a modern, Old West, or whimsical feel. All you need is a little imagination and a few carefully selected accessories and you’re there.
