Window Blinds Or Drapes? Which One to Choose? Why Not Both?
What is the difference between a window blind and a drape or a curtain? As such, both these objects seem to perform the same function – avoiding the entry of light and heat into the room. However, there are some differences between the two home improvement accessories.
A window blinder is normally made of a plastic, bamboo or metal and consists of strips that are joined together using plastic or fabric thread. The numerous strips are placed together very close to each other and can be manipulated to either slant and touch each other to create a complete blind or to stay parallel to each other and allow rays of light to pass through the middle.
On the other hand, a curtain is nothing but a piece of fabric that is hung from the top of the window to the bottom and ensures that light and heat does not pass through whenever the drape is placed in front of the window. On the other hand, if the window blind is placed, you have the option of either using it as a curtain to block heat and light or to allow a certain level of light to enter.
Needless is to say, windows blind offers numerous options that a curtain does not. However, a curtain, being a piece of cloth, offers a lot more aesthetic options. You can go in for dark colored heavy looking curtains to give a sober and formal feel to the room. Or, you can go in for very light and flashy curtain to make the room look light and energetic.
Of course, there are numerous options available as far as window blinds as well. You can go in for bamboo blinds that will give a natural and earthy feel to the room. If you have a few potted plants as well, you can easily convert a small portion of your room into a natural habitat.
At the end of the day, the choice between window blinds and curtains will lays in your hands. Of course, there is nothing stopping you from having both these options fitted to your window.
You can drop the curtain or the drape whenever you want or you can go in for window blinds. One advantage is that blinds are normally rolled while curtain are used in the form of slides. This enables you to fit both these accessories at the same time without any difficulty or complication whatsoever.
